The other day, I met up with my friends at our usual ‘coffee hang-out’ which is our favorite place and time for discussing anything and everything under the sun. Coffee usually stimulates us to our intellectual best or our gossipy best. This time around the gossipy side won hands down. We started with discussing the promos of the movie ‘Race’ and then the talk veered to the Saif- Kareena romance.

I have noticed that most people tend to feel sorry for Shahid Kapoor as he is perceived to be the hero who has been dumped by the heroine for greener pastures. One particular newspaper even went so far as to symbolize Kareena as the new age ‘bindaas’ girl who gives in to her whims and impulses rather than worry about the opinions of society.

Isn’t it strange that no one thinks of the possibility of Shahid Kapoor having dumped Kareena? Perhaps that is a more rational explanation of her weird weight loss. Maybe the lady is pining away in love. I mean, it could be a possibility, don’t you think so? J I think I should start writing stories for ‘rona-dhona’ hindi films. My imagination would have ample scope there, I guess. J

Anyways, did any of you watch the Shahid- Kareena duo appear on ‘Koffee with Karan’ at the height of their romance? I thought Kareena came across as silly and narcissistic whereas Shahid was a surprise with his maturity and articulateness. In fact, he seemed a younger version of Saif Ali Khan minus the arrogance. Call me crazy if you want for coming up with such a strange comparison, but to me, the similarities were definitely there. Perhaps that explains Kareena’s second choice in her romantic life.

Also, talking of making a gesture, Saif is quite good at it, don’t you think so? I mean, how many people would you find chartering a jet plane for their lady love just so that they could travel to Goa ? I wonder whether marrying Amrita Singh at such an early age (21, if I am not mistaken ) was also a magnanimous gesture. J Or perhaps, he is truly ‘bindaas’ and believes in living the moment to the hilt…..

Whatever be the case, apt title for my post- Strange liaisons – don’t you think so?
