Finally…. We have two Roadies episodes that live up to the reputation of the Roadies tag and give you an adrenaline rush. I think the producers finally caught onto the fact that the preceding episodes had been a bit of a let-down. They must have racked their brains and decided to ‘up’ the surprise and adventure quotient by bringing in an ‘out of the blue’ twist.

So, just when the six remaining Roadies were at their complacent best and building castles in the air about their international foray, Raghu and company brought back the contestants who had been voted out and practically stirred up a hornet’s nest. Secrets tumbled out of the closet and everyone jumped at each other’s throat. Totally cable paisa vasool.

What I really liked about the last two episodes, though, was the emphasis that was laid on the adventure part of the show. I was on the same page as the MTV wallahs and understood what they were hankering after when they insisted on the ‘passion’ that they wanted to see in potential Roadies during the audition episodes.  And for once, the producers also lived up to the image they had created and came up with tasks that had everyone pumping out their energy. The whole episode had a raw and real feel to it. For a change, it was not lowly politics that had an upper hand, but the passion to compete and perform that won hands down.

I think what really enlivened the proceedings were the one on one encounter like tasks that had been devised by MTV. Made me wonder whether group dynamics really stimulates the participants as per the concept of the show. Perhaps the guys behind the show should closely examine this angle.

In fact, the guy from Bangalore, Nihal, totally ‘lost it’ and in the process became much more likeable. At last, the guy proved that there was some substance to him other than a loud mouth. For that matter, even the Delhi girl, Shambvi who had very often in the show exhibited insecurity and a complete lack of scruple, showed that she is quite gutsy. After all, it is not easy to put up a fight when everyone is attacking you and you know that you are in the dumps as far as moral support goes.

Anyways, all I have to say is that this is what should be seen more often on Roadies. I am sure it will increase viewer ship and also the credibility of the show. Hope the international episodes are also in the same vein. Raghu and Company…you have a tough road ahead!
